Back Support Belt

In order to handle large or heavy objects as safely as possible, it is important to use a back support belt in any applications that require lifting. Support belts wrap around your waist to provide your back with the support that it needs to safely lift objects that might otherwise strain your muscles or spinal column. They are usually made of a durable nylon mesh and supported with flexible spring steel stays.

Many back support belts are tapered in front, so that they can preserve your posture while allowing you to bend comfortably. Many also are designed with suspenders to help them stay securely around your body in the proper orientation, minimizing twist that can cause discomfort as well as decrease effectiveness. They are also machine washable, and fully breathable, allowing a comfortable fit the whole shift long.

Purchasing a Back Support Belt

Back support belts are available from a number of safety equipment, construction equipment, or industrial suppliers. Finding the right back belt for your job can be tedious, however. For many light-lifting applications, a simple wrap-around belt may give a comfortable amount of support. For heavier applications, consider a back support belt with reinforced tubing to help the belt keep its shape, reinforced webbing and stitching, and thick, comfortable suspenders.

Online safety supply vendors may have a live support staff to answer and questions you may have about particular products. They may also offer email support, as well as free shipping, and quantity discounts. They may also feature MSDS and informational sheets for certain products that can help inform you of product performance in actual workplace tests.
