Nitrile Exam Gloves

An alternative to medical grade natural latex rubber gloves is nitrile exam gloves. Though they are generally a little more expensive than latex gloves, nitrile gloves contain none of the natural proteins found in latex rubber. In fact, they contain no substances, including heavy metals, that are known to be harmful upon contact.

Nitrile exam gloves have many other advantages over latex gloves. The synthetic makeup of nitrile allows the gloves to be donned easily, and without the aid of the powders that some latex gloves use. The nitrile polymer is also thermal sensitive, meaning that it will absorb the wearer's naturally exuded body heat and conform to the shape of the wearer's hands. Once the glove has shaped itself, it exerts very little pressure on the hands, which can help reduce fatigue.

Nitrile is also slightly stronger than natural latex rubber. Their strength makes nitrile exam gloves a perfect choice for harsher, more abrasive applications than latex gloves can handle. For example, a mechanical application that requires gloves to not only protect the hands from cuts, scrapes, and fluids, but also provide grip and dexterity is a perfect candidate for nitrile gloves.

Purchasing Nitrile Exam Gloves

Nitrile gloves have become very widespread in the past ten years. They are a commonly available alternative to latex, and as such, are available from medical suppliers as well as industrial suppliers and hardware suppliers. Online vendors and safety supply houses usually offer quantity discounts, as well as readily available salespeople and Material Safety Data Sheets.
