Oil Spill Control

In the case of an accidental spill, you want to make sure that you have the proper oil spill control products on hand. Any delay in cleaning can compound the damage done by a spill as well as the difficulty of cleaning it up. However, by practicing proper oil spill control, you can safely and effectively protect people, the environment, and your business.

Some oil spill control products are designed to contain spills before they become unmanageable. These products, including socks, booms, and pillows, can act as barriers to keep oil in a closed space. Socks, for use indoors on solid floors, can be easily placed on the edge of a spill, and overlapping multiple socks is a great way to reach around any size spill. They also can run along edges and under machinery, absorbing oil in places that may be difficult to reach.

Booms operate in a similar manner to socks, but are generally much larger. They also differ from socks in that booms are designed to absorb much more of a spill, and some are even made to be material-specific. That means that you can place a boom on water, for instance, and it will absorb only oil, as well as maintaining its shape and buoyancy even when fully saturated.

Polypropylene and Oil Spill Control Rolls

Meltblown Polypropylene is also available in sheet form. The sheets are generally packaged as rolls, which makes them great for applying to controlled spills. They are also easy to handle for transportation and disposal, which makes them ideal for smaller emergency spills.
