Safety Goggles

For environments ranging from industrial manufacturing plants to grade schools across the country, the importance of safety goggles cannot be understated. Safety goggles slip on to provide quick protection for your eyes from flying particles or dangerous chemical (or even hot water) splashes. They are an inexpensive safety measure that, when used correctly, can help reduce the large number of eye injuries that happen everyday across America.

Safety goggles are great for protection from particulate matter. If you are sanding, cleaning or lightly grinding, goggles can protect you from the dust and debris of your work. Goggle with an indirect venting design work well for providing protection from dust or splashes. Other "direct-vented" goggles allow more air to circulate between your eye and the lens, and may work better for protection from large particles.

Some safety goggles are designed to be hybrid glasses and goggles. This means that they are convertible from one to the other, often by the use of a soft rubber seal. The seal fits around the glasses and is nearer to your face, providing more protection than normal safety glasses.

Purchasing Safety Goggles

Many experts would recommend a personal consultation with an OSHA-trained technologist to determine the proper eye protection for your needs. Once you and the technician have settled on a solution, you can usually purchase items like goggles from safety or industrial equipment suppliers. Many vendors have online help to answer your questions, and some offer quantity discounts and guarantees as well.
