N95 safety masks are designed for protection against illnesses such as the flu and SARS. The flu is spread when the flu virus is dispersed through the air by someone who is infected coughing or sneezing. This can also happen just by talking. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) and the WHO (World Health Organization) recommend this grade of mask to prevent the spread of the virus.

If the N95 safety masks are equipped with an exhalation valve, it is not appropriate for an individual carrying the virus. The exhalation valve allows free release of exhaled breath. This type is for those wearing a mask for protection against the virus. If someone with a confirmed case of the flu or SARS uses the mask with an exhalation valve, it will put contaminates into the air.

Information about N95 Safety Masks

The N95 safety masks have confirmed filtration of 95% accuracy in removing particulates and aerosols that are oil free. This also includes diseases such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Other areas for using this mask include mining, woodworking, and hospitals. It can be used in some areas of the iron and steel industry. It is effective in providing protection against particulates from cement, coal, bacteria, sulfur, and cotton.

This mask is versatile in use and design. It can be used with different filter types making it effective against organic vapor and acid gas below permissible exposure limits (PEL). Before starting any project where the possibility of toxic inhalants is present, get the right protection. It must have the safety rating established by NIOSH for the particulate to be certain of the proper protection.
