The most important tractor accessory is the one that helps keep you safe. Roll overs are no joke. Hundreds if not thousands of people are seriously injured each year because of improper tractor use. Many of these people die because of their injuries. A tractor accessory such as a tilt sensor or inclinometer can help prevent roll overs, injury, and death.

Inclinometers as a Tractor Accessory

Inclinometers are used for a wide range of applications. They are found in hospitals, on cranes, on bulldozers, in road crews, in cameras, and in airplanes. There are so many times when accurately knowing the angle of operation is a matter of life or death. A tractor accessory which measures tilt or slope will help you to play it safe, operating below the maximum angle recommended by the manufacturer.

These tilt sensors, also known as inclinometers or slope indicators, are inexpensive. They are easy to use. They are also very easy to mount. When well designed, they can often be mounted in less than five minutes. Generally, these accessories can be mounted to a tractor with a couple of small bolts or with an adhesive strip.

Since this accessory is going to be used outside, make sure it is weatherproof. You want the body of the indicator and the mounting itself to be nearly crush proof. Also, look for an indicator that is easy to read. You want to be able to read it, even if the glass is a little dirty or the conditions are frosty cold. You can find inclinometers that will work in a wide range of temperatures, too.
