Metal Magnets

Metal magnets, such as rare earth magnets like Neodymium Iron Boron, are the building blocks for many wonderful hobbies. Metal magnets can be used to create fascinating sculptures, desk art, and mobiles. I have given away many gifts made of metal magnets, including a whole series of really cool Christmas ornaments that I created myself.

Metal Magnets, Powerful Magnets

Rare earth magnets are incredibly strong magnets. They are much stronger than the kind most of use to hang photos on our refrigerator doors. These magnets are so strong, they can act on one another from a distance of over 12 inches. Children should not play with these magnets unchaperoned.

If you keep one of these sculptures on your desk, make sure it is at least a foot away from your computer. You will also want to avoid leaving credit cards near these superior magnets. If you have a pacemaker, talk to your doctor before using these magnets.

I love creating with rare earth magnets. There is something very soothing about their endless flexibility. I know a few people who just keep a little pile of NIBs on the desk, to fuss with while talking on the phone. It's like doodling in three dimensions!
