Neodymium Iron Boron Magnets

Neodymium Iron Boron magnets are absolutely fascinating to play with and sculpt. Neodymium Iron Boron magnets, also known as NIB magnets, or NdFeB magnets, are extremely strong. In fact, these powerful magnets are so strong that you should talk to your doctor before bringing them into your home if you use a pacemaker.

Neodymium Iron Boron magnets are a variety of rare earth magnets. They are generally considered the most popular of the rare earth magnets, particularly for use in hobbies. Samarium Cobalt magnets are another type of popular rare earth magnet, but they are heavier and pricier than NIBs, making them somewhat less desirable.

Sculpting with Neodymium Iron Boron Magnets

I started buying NIBs a few years ago, to make sculptures. I've always enjoyed creating things with my hands, and I quickly found making NIB sculptures to be one of my favorite hobbies. The sculptures make cool gifts, and are just a whole lot of fun to create.

I like to make up my own designs, but you can certainly find some excellent designs online. Start out by making something representational, like a dog or cat, and then move on to the non-representational. I love making hanging designs. In fact, I made quite a few designs to give away as Christmas ornaments recently!
