Conductive plastic is made with a combination of carbon powder and plastic resin. It is the modern carbon film element. It is often used as a protective barrier for many different types of devices.

Conductive Plastic Qualities

Conductive plastic products have many uses. They have anti-static properties to prevent the build-up of dirt and dust. These properties will also help to prevent static charges for electro-sensitive devices.

Electrostatic contamination can be a problem for static sensitive and non-static sensitive components. Conductive plastic is often used as a protective shield from static charges. It can also be used to package specialty parts such as computers or telecommunications equipment.

Plastic with conductive agents have some limitations. It has poorer moisture resistance, power dissipation, and temperature coefficient than cermet elements. Yet, its static and dynamic noise performance is superior to cermet elements.
