TPU stands for Thermoplastic Urethane. It is an elastomer that can be hard or soft and is often used in manufacturing products. It is commonly used as a material for the injection molding process.

Injection molding is initiated when plastic pellets are melted into a liquid. The liquid is then injected into a specific mold design. After the plastic has cooled, the product can be removed from the mold.

TPU Qualities

TPU allows you to designate certain properties for your plastic product. You can determine its strength physically to the touch and also to chemicals or abrasions. The material can be manipulated into any strength or shape.

TPU has quite a unique combination of properties. These properties are not often seen in most thermoplastics for engineering. Most plastics cannot be manipulated as easily as thermoplastic urethane.
