Individual Dental PlanWritten by Rachel Arieff Individual dental plan options are many. Do you want an indemnity plan that gives you maximum flexibility and choices? With an indemnity plan, you can choose any dentist you desire for your dental care. Indemnity plans, however, are the most expensive individual dental plans. If saving money is the most important factor, then you might want to consider a managed care plan. With managed care, you're assigned a dentist, and your choices are more limited, but you'll end up paying much less for your dental insurance. Other Types of Individual Dental PlansIf managed care is too rigid but you still want to save money over an indemnity plan, then the preferred provider model may be the best choice. These plans are extremely popular because they combine the ability to choose a dentist, albeit from a network of approved providers. They also cost significantly less than a dental indemnity plan. There is yet another type of individual dental plan which is not insurance in the traditional sense, for there are no premiums, deductibles, or other restrictions common to insurance. This is the pay-for-services plan, where you pay for the dental work you need at deeply discounted rates.
