Swimming Insurance

Swimming insurance is very important to have on all team players, even though swimming is not considered a high risk sport. Swimming falls under the Class B heading, which means that it is considered to be a much lower risk than say, tackle football or ice hockey. Organizations still should consider purchasing adequate team insurance that will protect every participant, as well as every member of the organization from lawsuits and/or medical bills.

Again, as I have mentioned in previous pages of this guide, most sports insurance comes standard with accident and liability insurance, which typically is purchased together as one policy. Many agencies will not allow organizations to purchase only one or the other, but will allow them to purchase additional options. Such options can include crime coverage and directors and officers coverage, which of course adds to the total cost of the policy.

Swimming Insurance Protection

Swimming insurance covers the participants, the volunteers, the coaches, and basically anyone directly involved with the organization. Accident coverage will provide money for high medical bills should someone within the organization become injured in any capacity. General liability coverage provides the organization with protection against lawsuits derived from alleged injury to a participant and/or a spectator.

An attorney is also provided under the general liability portion of the swimming insurance policy. Directors and officers coverage provides protection against lawsuits based on age, sex, race, or handicap discrimination. Finally, crime coverage protects the organization against theft, embezzlement, and/or vandalism.
