Umpire Insurance

Perhaps you think it's funny that any organization would need to purchase umpire insurance. However if you stop to think of the nature of an umpire's job, you would probably reconsider your initial skepticism. Umpires are situated behind the home plate, and they have hard baseballs coming in their direction at over 80 miles per hour.

If the catcher misses the ball, who do you think gets whacked? The umpire does. Then of course there are the umpires that are out in the field, who often have to endure the hot tempers of players that got called out. An umpire's job is not easy, and therefore it should be noted that umpire insurance is without a doubt a necessity.

Get the Protection You Deserve with Umpire Insurance

Are you beginning to see the importance of having umpire insurance? Without the proper coverages, your umpires and your organization can face some serious problems down the road. All policies should have, as a minimum, accident and general liability coverage, which protects against high medical bills, as well as lawsuits.

You can log onto the Internet and perform a search for sports insurance if you just want to get a general idea about the types of options and coverages involved in umpire insurance. You can also ask your regular insurance agent if he or she can recommend an agency that specifically specializes in sports insurance. It is important that the agency you choose is licensed in your state and has a rating of at least an A-, as you want to know you have a reputable agency standing behind you in the event you must file a claim.
