Texas work comp coverage can save both you and your business from financial ruin. As an employer in Texas you are not required to have workers compensation. Texas is the only state not required to carry this coverage by federal law. However, this does not mean you should not make the investment.

Workers compensation covers all financial responsibility in the event one of your employees is injured on the job. These monies may be the result of medical bills, insurance premiums, lawsuits or lost wages due to inability to perform. Most workers comp policies include standard, state-based coverages and premiums are typically similar across the board.

What is an Insurance Pool?

You may have heard the term insurance pool when researching Texas work comp policies. As an employer, you may be unable to purchase traditional workers comp coverage due to high risk. In these cases, employers are forced to pay top dollar for mediocre coverage.

Self-insurance is another form of liability coverage. In this situation employers are not expected to pay a monthly or annual premium. Instead, your organization is responsible for paying for all costs associated with a claim.
