California Bar Results

Upon completing the Bar Exam, California Bar results may be obtained differently than in other states. The results are given depending on what time of year the exam was taken. There are also two sections of the exam accounting for different percentages of the total score.

California bar results are released depending on whether the exam was taken in the summer or the wintertime. Results for the summer exam are available in approximately 16-18 weeks. Results for the winter exam are given within 12-14 weeks.

Determining Scores in California Bar Results

There are two major sections in the California Bar Exam. The first section takes place over two days. This portion focuses on 6 California essay questions and two performance test problems. The second section (MBE) takes place in one day. It consists of 200 multiple choice questions.

Each of these sections accounts for a particular percentage in California Bar Results. The MBE section accounts for 35% of the total score. The Essay/Performance Problem portion accounts for 65% of the total score. Both require significant preparation and study to achieve excellent results.
