While you might be tempted to use local advertising only in your marketing campaign, I would caution against this. National advertising is definitely the way to go if you want to get your name out there and increase awareness of your company and its products and services. There are different channels of national advertising, each with its own strengths you will want to consider before implementing your marketing campaign.

National Advertising Channels

The oldest method of national advertising is the print media. Print media has been in use for centuries. Print ads are well understood by the advertising industry and they've been used to sell every conceivable product. National print ads are often best when they include a coupon as this is more likely to induce response by the consumer.

The second channel of national advertising is through the radio airwaves. Radio has not been around as long as print ads, but it is still a very old and widely used method. Radio ads are often effective because people are generally exposed to them in the car where they are a very captive audience indeed. Radio ads often use music and catchy jingles to help consumers remember them.

The third national channel is television. Of all the national advertising methods, this is probably the most effective. It combines the visual appeal of print ads with the auditory appeal of radio ads for a combined effect that is very very powerful. Television ads reach the greatest audience and often have the best returns.
