The health of a company is not always judged through stock market rates or bottom line values, but can be obtained through honest and straightforward employee polls. After all, employees are perhaps the best source of information regarding the day-to-day business practices of any company. They are the ones who can provide loyalty and good attitudes or complain about how they are being treated.

Studies have shown that turnover rates among companies that do not take employee opinions into account are higher than those who set up regular employee polls throughout the year. This is due to the fact that--on the whole--people appreciate it when their voices are heard, especially if they feel lost in a great sea of fellow employees. If given the opportunity to vote on certain business-related issues, a worker is more likely to feel like a part of a larger "team" effort.

The Best Points to Tackle in Employee Polls

According to the National Employee Relationship Benchmark Study, there are several large issues that employees usually consider before expressing any loyalty or enthusiasm for a job. A person is more likely to feel positive about the workplace if he thinks that his boss has implemented policies that encourage fair pay and treatment among all employees. If his boss cannot be trusted, or if he thinks his boss has not shown any care and concern for him, it will be less likely that he would claim to have a high level of commitment to the company as a whole.

It is thus incredibly important to write employee polls with questions that bring about either approval or disapproval over how they feel they are being treated. The best way to do this is to organize an anonymous electronic survey every at least twice a year (perhaps every few months if major improvements are in demand). Once this process is instigated and established as a regular occurrence, chances are that the company will notice changes in employee performance rates and morale as well as higher levels in company pride.
