Teacup Breeders

Most teacup breeders know they have an important job in their hands. That is, they strive through genetic planning to make smaller versions of classic toy dog breeds for toy dog enthusiasts. These breeds can include, but are not limited to, Chihuahuas, Maltese, Yorkshire terriers and poodles.

At birth, most teacup puppies are completely helpless and require a lot of help throughout the first few weeks. For example, teacup poodles are usually only two or three ounces when born, and must be kept in a sterile environment until they are four or six weeks old. Teacup breeders must know how to hand nurse these puppies from a tube or small bottle in order to keep the puppies healthy and free from any newborn diseases.

It is up to teacup breeders to bring these small dogs into the world in the best and healthiest way. The best breeders will take their own personal time to make sure the right genetic combinations are employed during the breeding process. They will also sacrifice their own time and money to maintain the health of any puppy no matter what the circumstances are.

Legal Duties Required by All Teacup Breeders

It is required by the American Kennel Club that breeders register all born litters with the club, including registration information of the dam (mother) and sire (father). This is to ensure that buyers know whether the puppies are pureblood, as well as any family medical history. The best breeders will be able to send all registration information to potential buyers without question.
