Dr. Jane Bicks

Dr. Jane Bicks is a holistic veterinarian recognized and respected for her research and work in alternative medicine and nutrition in animal health. A graduate with top honors from the University of Parma in Italy, she has also written three noteworthy books on the care and treatment of pets. Those titles are Revolution in Cat Nutrition, published by Rawson Associated in 1986, and the companion pair Dr. Jane's Thirty Days to a Healthier, Happier Cat and Dog, published by Berkley in 1997 and 1999.

Dr. Jane Bicks has also been active in and with numerous animal groups, centers, and services, among them the ASPCA, the American Humane Society, and the Cornell University Feline Health Center. In 1994, New York City Mayor Rudi Giuliani appointed her to help establish the world's largest animal shelter.

A pioneer in alternative medicine and animal nutrition, Dr. Jane Bicks currently serves as the executive director at HealthyPetNet in New York, where she helps develop animal food formulas that meet the highest possible standards in animal health. Dr. Jane Bicks and the well-known Dr. Barry Sears, of Zone Diet fame, have recently cooperated to establish the Canine Zone, which focuses on weight loss food for dogs.

For her ongoing work in the veterinary field and her contributions to animal nutrition, she has been the recipient of various awards and recognitions. Among these are three presidential citations, the Outstanding Service to Veterinary Medicine Award, and the Morris Animal Foundation Merit Award. An animal health guest on many television and radio programs--including CBS, Good Morning America, PBS, the Discovery Channel, NPR, and many others--Dr. Jane Bicks is a resident veterinary expert on an Animal Planet series.
