East San Diego County Real EstateWritten by Patricia Tunstall East San Diego County Real Estate Offers VarietyEast San Diego County real estate appeals to many kinds of prospective buyers. Are you looking for a safe, welcoming community where you can watch your children grow and play? Are you single--and relish your solitude? Do you long for a locale that provides so many different kinds of recreation that you never run out of options? Look no farther than East San Diego County homes! Many of the towns lie on or near Interstate Highway 8, which links them to the city of El Cajon and the even larger cities along the coast, Chula Vista and San Diego. Offshoot highways will take you to the famous town of Julian (get a slice of fresh apple pie!), Mt. Laguna and Horse Canyon Soaring Site, and McCain Valley Resource Conservation Area, where off-road vehicles are permitted. East San Diego County real estate has an abundance of El Cajon homes and Santee homes, to name but two of the prime areas here. RenewalEast San Diego County suffered loss of life and property in the Cedar Fire of October, 2003. The brave residents of these rural areas are rebuilding, and the land is renewing itself. Cuyamaca State Park is opening, and new grass and seedlings are appearing. People chose to live in these wonderful communities to raise their families in the beautiful open spaces of East County. Despite the tragedy, the lure of La Mesa, Santee, Lakeside, and Alpine is undiminished. These historic towns continue to welcome those who want to participate in building and maintaining warm neighborhoods where residents can walk, ride horses, fish in the local lake, and stroll through chaparral-covered hills.
