Pasadena HomesWritten by Jen Nichol The name "Pasadena" conjures up so much: early-century architecture, genteel, tree-lined boulevards, and the famous Tournament of Roses. It's amazing when one realizes that this city is just 10 miles north of Los Angeles, allowing residents of Pasadena homes easy access to all the big city has to offer. People fall in love with Pasadena the first time they visit. This place, the name of which means "valley between the hills," was incorporated into a city in 1901, and has impressed visitors since that time with broad, leafy vistas, rolling lawns, and energetic, civic-minded residents. If you are anything like me, you have watched the Rose Parade on television and seen the wide, genteel main street with its cafes, art-house theaters, bookstores, and galleries. You may have wondered, as I did, at the imposing 1920's architecture paying homage to classical Greece, along with the sun-dappled sidewalks and blossoming trees. My first visit in person to this city did not disappoint. The Best of the Old and the NewPasadena homes blend the gracious lifestyle of a century ago with modern business, easy freeway access, and affordable amenities. You'll feel a million miles away from a frenzied urban lifestyle, yet everything you need is within an easy distance. Rarely is such a harmonious union so easily within reach.
