San Diego real estate agencies are your route to finding a great place to live in one of California's loveliest spots. The city, first discovered by Europeans in 1542 and settled as a mission in 1769, stumbled through its early years with a population of less than 500. By the time land speculator Alonzo Horton of San Francisco looked down on the harbor and remarked on what he saw as "the prettiest spot for a city that I ever saw," the future of San Diego's real estate market was sealed.

Greater San Diego runs about 35 miles from Del Mar in the north to Imperial Beach in the south. In the middle are San Diego Bay and the almost-island of Coronado. Across the bay lie the Embarcadero, Gaslamp Quarter, and Balboa Park. North of the island is San Diego's airport, Mission Bay and Beach, Tecolote Canyon National Park, Pacific Beach, and La Jolla. Silver Strand State Beach is the incredibly narrow strip of land connecting Coronado to Imperial Beach. Just a couple miles south is Tijuana, Mexico.
