Both it and South Florida have a great deal to offer both you as a home buyer and also family and friends who come to visit as vacationers. On the one hand, Coral Springs is an ideal place--as both a safe environment and a vital community--to raise a family. Other the other, it's near all the great attractions Florida has to offer. Coral Springs real estate is spread over approximately 23.5 square miles, more than half of which is residential. The median age is 34. The population of 117,549 at the 2000 census was estimated at 125,313 for 2004. As of December 2002, some 31,500 students were enrolled in the 21 public and charter schools of Coral Springs. Residents of Coral Springs love where they live, there's no question of that! Proof enough is evident in the many popular activities offered by Coral Springs' four parks, cultural arts center, and other facilities. The official number of park patrons is just over 3 million, of tennis court players about 115,000, of sports teams about 1,300. Remember, the population is only 125,000! Coral Springs is certainly a healthy and dynamic community. Coral Springs Real Estate: A Little HistoryWhat is now Coral Springs real estate was originally part of a vast 20,000-acre tract of marshy wilderness in west Broward County. Bought in 1961 for $1 million by three developers operating as Coral Ridge Properties, the land amounted to 3,860 acres. The plan, which entailed strict landscaping laws and a natural environment, projected a population of 50,000.
