There are several way to earn a Florida sales associates license and a number of steps to become a Florida real estate broker. Meeting the minimum qualifications to become a Florida real estate professional is, however, relatively simple. In order to apply for Florida sales associates licenses, applicants must be at least 18 years old and must have received either a high school diploma or GED. Applicants do not have to be US citizens or residents of the State of Florida.

Obtaining Florida Realtor Licenses

Applicants must take a 63-hour pre-licensing course at a live or online schools, and the course must be approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission. Class work includes a final exam which is intended to prepare the applicant for the required state exam. Some schools, especially online schools, offer review courses and test cram courses.

Florida sales associates license requirements include passing the 100-question state exam with minimum score of 75 correct answers. The exam is given at over 30 designated locations six days a week and is completed using a touch screen. If applicants pass the test, they leave the exam with their Florida real estate licenses in hand. Subsequently, the new real estate sales associates will have up to 24 months to complete the required 45-hour post-licensing education course in order to renew their licenses either in March or September.

Florida Sales Associates Licenses and Real Estate Brokers

The requirements for real estate brokers in Florida include 72 hours of additional study and a documented full twelve months of real estate experience during the five years preceding becoming licensed as a broker. Florida has reciprocal agreements with ten states, and licensed sales associates in those states may apply for exemption from the Florida education requirements. In addition, anyone who holds a law degree in the State of Florida or who has graduated with a four-year real estate degree from an accredited college may also apply for exemption.
