Get A Florida Real Estate LicenseWritten by Kathleen GagneIf you want to get a Florida real estate license, you must first meet some basic minimum requirements. You must be at least eighteen years old, and you must have earned either a high school diploma or a GED. It is also expected that you can prove you are of good character and that you will represent the field of real estate appropriately. You do not, however, need to be either a resident of Florida or even a US citizen. How to Get a Florida Real Estate LicenseTo get a Florida real estate license, you will have to either attend live classes or take an online or CD-ROM 63-hour pre-licensing course approved by the Florida Real Estate Commission. Most prospective real estate professionals select the course that is most convenient for them, especially if they are continuing to work at their current job. One element to consider when you are choosing the method of course work you want to pursue is whether you learn better in a classroom environment or need the convenience of being able to study according to your schedule. When you register for your course, you will be given instructions about applying for your license which you should do before you start the class. You will have to take into consideration both the cost of the course and the license application fee up front. Whichever format you select for your course, it is a very good idea to do some online shopping. Schools that offer all three formats usually advertise heavily online, and there are significant differences in the the tuition prices. Once You Get a Florida Real Estate LicenseAfter you pass the required state exam and get your license, you will be ready to begin your exciting new career working under the tutelage of a licensed real estate broker. At the same time, you should begin the process of looking at which 45-hour post-licensing course you will want to take. You will have up to 24 months to pass that post-license course in order to obtain your first license renewal. You may eventually want to become a real estate broker, and there are additional course requirements that must be completed before you obtain that license.
