If you're hoping to find your own spot in the sun, look no further than south Florida real estate listings. If your move is across a state line, you probably want to enlist the help of a good real estate agent. Whatever property you find and settle on, though, you're marking a great investment in a wonderful climate.

An Overview of South Florida Real Estate Listings

South Florida real estate listings more narrowly refer to the three Atlantic coast counties south of Lake Okeechobee. From north to south these are Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade. The overall population, as of the 2000 census, was about 5 million. The variation across these three counties all sharing the same wonderful white sand beaches of Atlantic coastline makes for an interesting and vital region.

An important business and cultural center, Fort Lauderdale has long has a reputation for leisure and an easy pace in the sun. Part of this is due, of course, to the 1960s movie Where the Boys Are. Known to some as the Venice of Florida for its 165 of navigable waterways, the Fort Lauderdale area of South Florida real estate listings also boasts 25 miles of ocean front and some 30 cities and towns. North of Broward County are the more affluent communities of Palm Beach County. To the south, across the Miami-Dade line, is the vast metropolitan sprawl of urban Miami Beach and its many satellite towns.

To the west, right there almost at your fingertips, is the vast expanse of the Everglades. Technically a shallow, slow-moving river--hence the name "River of Grass"--it encompasses about 4,000 acres of south Florida. Bordered on the west by the mangrove swamps at the Gulf of Mexico and on the east by the narrow sandy belt at Miami, the Everglades are home to a vast diversity of wildlife.
