In essence a Tampa suburb, the community of Valrico is a marvelous place to call home along Florida's Gulf coast. Sitting on nearly six square miles in Hillsborough County, it has an ethnically diverse, solidly educated, and culturally rich population of some 7,000. Convenient to all of central Florida--from the Nature Coast to Lake Okeechobee and countless natural parks and inland waterways--and basking in warm sunshine and pleasant breezes off the Gulf of Mexico, Valrico is a community to seriously consider as you look for a place to live.

Enjoying the Charms of Tampa Bay

The immediate Tampa Bay area, of course, is in itself more than enough to keep thousands of vacationers busy year after year. From the Florida Aquarium to the St. Petersburg Pier, and from Busch Gardens to more than 20 pristine white sandy beaches and sparkling surf, it's a delightful environment. Sports enthusiasts can choose from a variety of professional football, basketball, and hockey teams, while the more active go out on their own to fish and sail in the bay and Gulf, to hike and kayak along inland waterways. Scores of lush championship golf resorts dot the region, with tennis not far behind in popularity.

A vibrant multicultural community, the greater Tampa metropolitan area has a strong Hispanic presence--about 10 percent--that includes virtually all Latin and South American countries. The city was in fact on Hispanic Magazine's top cities for three years running. Named by the U.S. Census Bureau as one of the top five most diverse and integrated urban areas in the nation, Tampa is an invigorating place to call home.

Valrico--median age 39--sits to the east of downtown Tampa in Hillsborough County, an elevation of 55 feet (well up there for the state). The median house value at the last census was $127,400, putting Valrico real estate in the desirable category. Realistic selling prices today run the gamut under $1 million--from about $150,000 at the low end to about $750,000 at the high end. Given the charm and quiet of Valrico properties, it's worth consulting a realtor to help you in your search for a house to call home.
