Weston, Florida Real EstateWritten by Helen Glenn Court A wonderful place to raise a family, Weston, Florida real estate is also a wise buy. An affluent neighborhood with a strong school system and plenty of recreational and cultural opportunities, the city of Weston has much to offer. With its calming small town feel and the lush surroundings of mangrove forest, wetlands, and the lush tropical vegetation typical of south Florida, Weston is an especially attractive place to live. About Weston, Florida Real EstateOriginally called Indian Trace, the city of Weston lies in western Broward County some 25 miles inland from the pristine white sand beaches of Fort Lauderdale. It is within minutes of Interstates 95, which runs north-south, and 75, which runs east-west to Naples on the Gulf coast, Weston is also within easy access of three international airports--Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood, Miami, and Palm Beach. The 15,000 acres of Weston, Florida real estate are in fact one of the region's newest planned communities. Although the property was bought for development in the 1950s, the master plan was not approved until 1978. In the meantime, the dependent district of Bonaventure, financed separately, developed separately as well. Construction on the first official Weston real estate--houses in the neighborhoods of Windmill Ranch and Country Isles--was not completed until 1984. (The man responsible for Weston was Arthur Vining Davis, the aluminum magnate. He also, though far earlier, helped develop the resort of Boca Raton, just north of Fort Lauderdale over the Palm Beach County line.) Since 1984 the community has grown from a population of just over 5,000 in 1991 to some 61,000 in 2003. Think about calling this delightful haven your home, you can't do better!
