At the spot where the Great Plains give way to the Rocky Mountains, you will find Denver, Colorado. A clean and busy city, Denver is known for being close to great hiking in the summer and great skiing in the winter. The "Mile High City" has several major league sports teams, and very loyal fans--the Rockies, Broncos, and Avalanche being perennial favorites.

Looking for Homes in Denver

Denver has low unemployment, a high average income, and a high appreciation rate on homes. Although the average Denver home is more expensive than other homes in the country, Denver's strong economy makes it well worth the investment. In addition, Denver has very low property taxes and very low crime rates.

There are relatively few foreclosure investments to be found in Denver, thanks to the sound economy. However, the rest of Colorado is not as well off as Denver (or its sister city Boulder), and HUD has significant investments in the state. Money has been allocated to stimulate rural areas in Colorado.

In addition, Ute Indians qualify for economic assistance from the government, as do other Native Americans. The HUD program has also provided a half million dollar grant for housing assistance for people living with HIV/AIDS in Colorado. So while traditional discount housing is harder to find in Denver, there is still substantial support for those in need.
