Alpharetta's sweet, quaint atmosphere and old world charm draws many potential homebuyers to the area. The city's historic downtown area, located at the intersection of Milton and Main Streets, features cute shops and a unique dining experience. This historic area is a great place to spend a relaxing Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Small Town Feel with Big City Advantages

Alpharetta is located in Fulton County, about 20 miles north of nearby Atlanta, a good distance for commuters trying to get away from the difficulties of city life but who still want to remain close enough to commute to work. Alpharetta still feels rural, in contrast with the fast-paced lifestyle of Atlanta. Most people are willing to leave town to go to work as long as the hometown feel of their neighborhood is preserved.

Alpharetta's current population is 35,000, a drastic increase over 20 years ago, when the population was a mere 3,000. The median house value is around $264,000, which indicates how in demand land in Alpharetta is. The median yearly household income is around $71,000.

There are 15 elementary schools, seven middle schools and four high schools in Alpharetta that are part of the Fulton County public school system. Money Magazine named the Fulton County school system "One of the Top 100 School Districts in Places You Can Afford." Both of Alpharetta's high schools are in the top 13 schools in Georgia.

Alpharetta is a very unique town because it has a lot of old world charm but also has modern amenities like the Environmental Education Center, which provides information on environmental topics. This community service offers programs for groups and has constant projects residents can volunteer for, such as roadside cleanup, telephone book recycling and plant rescue, to name a few.
