Smyrna Real EstateWritten by Courtney Salinas Smyrna, Georgia is known as the "Jonquil City" because of the thousands of jonquils (a tubular, fragrant, daffodil-like flower) that fill residents' gardens and line the streets in the early spring. The jonquils fill the city with a pleasant fragrance and add to the overall charm of this Cobb County city. For those who appreciate the smaller pleasures in life, these lovely flowers make Smyrna a great place to live. This sweet little town is only 15 minutes, or ten miles northwest, of downtown Atlanta. While it is very close to Atlanta, it is free of most of the congestion that plagues the Atlanta area. Residents can enjoy many of the amenities available to them, such as jogging trails, tennis courts and public golf courses, or they can admire the newly revitalized downtown area. "The Village Green" is home to residences, city hall and a new library. Take a WalkBefore deciding on a neighborhood, try taking a stroll around and see what you notice. Are the neighborhood lawns in order? Do the children of the neighborhood look at ease playing in their front yards? Do the residents seem happy? Don't be afraid to ask anyone you encounter what his or her experiences in the the neighborhood have been. They may provide you with information you may have never thought to ask in the first place. Drive through the neighborhood at night and see how well lit the streets are, how quiet or loud the area is and how safe you feel. Looking at a house during the day is a good way to see the details of a home, but driving through a neighborhood at night will give you the best idea of what to expect if you should move there.
