Hawaii Beach Homes

Location of Hawaii Beach Homes

Being a chain of islands, Hawaii is justifiably famous for its spectacular coastline. Sea cliffs that drop into the ocean are dramatic, but they preclude building Hawaii beach homes. Sandy beaches and easy ocean access are necessary for ideally-located Hawaii houses.

On Hawaii, the Big Island, large resorts and golf courses are more or less limited to the South Kohala coast, which is actually on the western end of the Big Island. However, Hawaii vacation homes and stores are spreading from this area. Maui, with its four islands, has grand resorts with some condo complexes right on the beach. Molokai also has some developments of Hawaii beach homes and golf courses on the west and south sides of the island.

Oahu and Kauai

Oahu is by far the most developed island. Aside from being a surfer's paradise, with the enormous North Shore waves, Oahu has hotels, timeshares, rentals, condos, houses--you name it--in various price ranges. Lodging and accommodations are plentiful and varied, depending on location on the island.

Kauai, the setting for the film, "Jurassic Park," is rugged. The sea cliffs of the Na Pali coast, coupled with the deeply-carved valleys, and the dense rainforest, ensures the interior is preserved for hikers, not builders. Most tourists seek out the South Shore of Kauai, and here are the long beaches, resorts, and restaurants that typify developments of Hawaii beach homes. Poipu is striking, with its white-sand beaches and sunny climate. Here, there are condo complexes and vacation rentals galore. The West Shore, where Waimea is located, has vacation rentals and luxury houses built on the hillsides that overlook the ocean.
