Kihei Maui Properties

Today, Kihei Maui is one of the busiest beach towns in Hawaii and is filled to the brim with a wide variety of real estate properties. While not the most glamorous of Maui real estate, these properties are nonetheless quite popular among permanent residents. They are also highly sought-after by visitors and vacationers who are interested in finding a more affordable place to stay.

Kihei Maui properties are less expensive simply because the area of land (located on the southwestern coast of Haleakala) had a very barren history for a long time. Until water was piped into the land from west and central Maui, the hot and dry area of Kihei was underdeveloped by mankind. However, once the land became fertile and habitable in the early 1970s, the land was immediately gobbled up in a rather haphazard way and properties began to be built.

In general, the most common types of vacation-friendly Kihei Maui properties are rental homes and condominiums, a few hotels, and timeshares. One can find bed and breakfasts right on the Kamaole beach area as well. Permanent residence can be found in gated communities, single-family homes, and a number of condominium lots for sale.

Purchasing Kihei Maui Properties by Location

In addition to price, there is the consideration of location and nearby amenities to think about. For example, those who have children may wish to purchase a piece of property near the Kamalii or Kihei elementary schools, or find an easy route to the Kihei/Maui High School. It is a good idea to contact a professional guide or real estate agent to help you figure out these and other necessary demands that may arise for you and your family in the future.
