You've looked into all aspects of Canada's westernmost province and you've decided to buy British Columbia property. Great decision! Roughly half of British Columbia's population resides in the southwestern part of the province in or near Greater Vancouver. For the purposes of this article it's that area and its surrounding towns that will be discussed here. With the attention of the entire world focusing on this part of British Columbia for the 2010 Winter Olympics, it's probably one of the reasons that you too have decided to focus your search to buy British Columbia property there.

Where in and around Greater Vancouver Should You Buy British Columbia Property?

Most of the two million people that decided to live in or buy British Columbia property in Greater Vancouver actually live outside of the city of Vancouver itself. Only a half-million or so call Vancouver home, the rest of the two million have found reasons to live in the surrounding towns. Many of these city dwellers also have second homes in areas like the mountain town of Whistler or the beautiful Vancouver Island. These places offer spectacular scenery, loads of activities, modern transportation, jobs, and tremendous choices in real estate options.

When you buy British Columbia property in Greater Vancouver you have less than a two-hour drive to Whistler Village and its world class skiing. The trip takes you along scenic Howe Sound and into the Coast Mountains. However you don't need to actually drive that far just to ski. There are actually office workers in downtown Vancouver that take a twenty minute drive to ski instead of eat during their lunch hours.

If you should buy British Columbia property in the Greater Vancouver area be sure to try night skiing. There are about three great skiing areas just outside the city to the north. Even if you don't ski, the sight of Vancouver's lights below you are worth the trip at night, and even the daylight views are spectacular.
