Canadian Waterfront Property

Canada's seacoast includes 36,356 miles of mainland and 115,133 miles of islands - now that's a lot of Canadian waterfront property! But that's just the start. When you include Canadian waterfront property on Canada's countless lakes, rivers and streams your mind begins to swim with the seemingly limitless possibilities. You need to narrow your search a bit.

Consider Canadian Waterfront Property Around Vancouver

Limiting your options for Canadian waterfront property to one area like Vancouver helps to maintain sanity, but it doesn't begin to limit all of your options. The tiny southwestern corner of the world's third largest country may seem like there can't be many options for Canadian waterfront property, but there are indeed many options available. Beautiful Vancouver Island alone has over 2,000 miles of coastline, and that doesn't include all of the inlets and lakes. Winter is the rainy season on and around Vancouver Island's lower elevations, while snow is prevalent on the Beaufort Mountain Range t hat dominates the center of the island. Summers can feel like you're at a tropical resort.

The mainland across from Vancouver Island also boasts some wonderful options for Canadian waterfront property. The coast has some of the most sheltered and moderate weather in British Columbia. Climate ranges from Mediterranean to semi-arid desert. Of course the boating is better along the sheltered side of Vancouver Island. The west side, that fronts on the Pacific, is actually known as "The Graveyard of The Pacific" having lost over 1,100 ships through the years. Today it's a diver's paradise.

As you go further inland from the island, your choices in Canadian waterfront property become limited to lakes and rivers. Lakefront property is especially beautiful as you begin to climb the mountains and find the glacier fed lakes. These can be very deep, very cold, and very remote from the populace. But their sheer beauty makes them a wilderness retreat dream come true.
