Whistler Home

A Whistler home can be many things to many people. For some a Whistler home is exactly that, home. The Whistler population is currently about 10,000, and most are between the ages of 25 and 35. With Whistler home prices nearing the $1 million average, one immediately wonders how these young people can possibly live where they work. Whistler had anticipated the rapid growth in both demand and price, and has established the Whistler Housing Authority to set aside affordable housing for its workers.

A Typical Whistler Home

The typical Whistler home for sale to the vacationer or investor is a chalet, condo or townhouse. Chalets are generally 25% to 50% higher, but offer more rooms and often better amenities. When you buy a Whistler home in the village, you will find that it's probably easier to leave the car in the driveway. Whistler has a transit system that carries about 2 million annually, and although there is only one taxi company its fleet is large and can accommodate all of your vacationing paraphernalia.

Most think of Whistler as a ski resort town, and it is, but Whistler also boasts many activities for the four-season vacationer. Whistler is the #1 ski resort in North America with its 7,000+ acres of ski terrain and over 200 marked trails. Most of the skiing is accessible within walking distance of your Whistler home, and in the summer most people use bikes to get around. Whistler is fast becoming known as the mountain biking capital of the Northwest

As mentioned earlier, the average Whistler home is nearing the $1 million range. Yet it is expected that that same Whistler home will sell for three times as much as 2010 nears! Is it any wonder why people are buying as fast as these homes come on the market? Find a good Whistler realtor when considering an investment of this size, and then enjoy watching your investment grow as the snow outside your Whistler home falls.
