Southern Village Chapel HillWritten by Helen Glenn Court Southern Village Chapel Hill is sure to be among your choices as you look around the richness that the triangle of central North Carolina has to offer. Whether you're coming to the area to retire or to work as an active professional, all three cities and several towns are possibilities. You might be working at the famed Research Triangle Park, or at one of the three top-ranking universities in the immediate area. What Southern Village Chapel Hill Has to OfferThe style and ambiance of Southern Village Chapel Hill is traditional. It is urban rather than suburban. Its tree-line sidewalks lead to more than around the block. Its center is Market Street, and offers a host of shops, cafes, doctors' offices, craft and jewelry shops, a grocery store and other services and amenities. Each building has its own architectural style and the overall effect is the feel and look of America's classic main street. Lying just to the southwest edge of Chapel Hill, the community of Southern Village Chapel Hill is one of rental apartments, whether urban style or town home or freestanding house. The overall style might be called Charleston. Local schools are nearby and within safe and easy walking distance along tree-lined streets. Farther afield are the amenities of the central Piedmont area. A stretch of gently rolling hills midway between the Appalachian Mountains, 190 miles to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean, 150 miles to the east, North Carolina's Heartlands have much to offer. Removed from the metropolitan rush of Atlanta some 400 miles to the south, and from the center of the nation some 250 miles to the north, North Carolina gives you both accessibility and comfortable quiet charm.
