Franklin Tennessee homes have existed since at least 1799 when the city was founded in wealthy Williamson County. Franklin was named after Benjamin Franklin, a close friend of Dr. Hugh Williamson who served in the Continental Congress. Williamson County saw its plantation economy devastated and not recovering for 120 years following the Civil War.

A few miles south of Brentwood, Franklin has again achieved the distinction of being one of the richest cities in one of the most affluent counties, this time of the entire country. Many new residential neighborhoods have been built that offer a range of prices and homes to fit every size budget and family. The new Franklin Tennessee homes are a lovely counterpoint to the historic homes of the area.

With a population estimated at perhaps 42,000 today, Franklin is the largest growing city in Tennessee. As the tenth largest city in the state, its blend of historic, small-town ambiance and modern, big-city urbanity is immensely appealing. To obtain additional revenue and better plan fire protection, parks, water needs, and so forth, Franklin is conducting a special 2004 census to update population figures.
