Vanderbilt Area Real EstateWritten by Shirley Parker Surrounding the esteemed university of the same name, Vanderbilt Area real estate embraces neighborhoods of all types. Several communities lie south of Vanderbilt. Hillsboro Village has homes on small, ¼ acre lots, within walking distance of Fannie Mae Dees Park, Blair School of Music and the Medical Center at Vanderbilt University, and unique shops and sidewalk cafes. An outstanding elementary school and other private schools hold a fine reputation in the community. Part of Belmont/Lipscomb Community is also within walking distance of Vanderbilt. Close by are Belmont University and David Lipscomb University. This neighborhood has a diverse population and a mixture of home styles, some of them being restored to former ostentation. Such homes are selling well on the Vanderbilt area real estate lists. Woodmont Estates and Green Hills are a short drive from Vanderbilt and have many attractive homes that tend to be high-priced, some being part of planned communities. Forest Hills and Oaks Hills are incorporated neighborhoods with no commercial enterprises permitted. Per capita income in both communities is among the highest in Middle Tennessee. Brentwood and Franklin in Williamson County are also popular with higher income people who work near Vanderbilt and are looking for Vanderbilt area real estate. Vanderbilt Area Real Estate to the WestRichland/West End Historic Area is a lively neighborhood with many events happening, where neighbors mingle and hold street parties. Belle Meade and West Meade/Hillwood have mostly large homes, some of them luxurious. Bellevue, a very old farm community, is located between Highway 100 and Highway 70 beyond Nine Mile Hill. A broad range of home sizes and prices encourages great community spirit with events like annual picnics, in the middle of such a mix of income levels and population.
