Williamson County Real EstateWritten by Shirley Parker Williamson County real estate covers 583 square miles, although only about 217 people per square mile live there. This compares with 1,135 persons per square mile in slightly smaller Davidson County, where Nashville proper is located. Williamson County is pleasantly uncrowded and a highly desirable place to live, even for those who work in Nashville. Two of the most well known communities are Brentwood and Franklin. Brentwood's population has increased over the past twenty years to approximately 25,000 people, while Franklin's stands at around 42,000. Most people who have selected new and older homes in the communities have done so because of the excellent public school systems, along with quality of life, shopping malls, and parks and green spaces. Williamson County real estate has many subdivided estates and horse farms that have become housing developments with beautiful homes from which to choose. Williamson County real estate is beginning to feel some impact from Tennessee's Land Preservation movement that seeks to educate landowners about the critical need to retain agricultural land throughout the state. The land preservation movement is a latecomer to Tennessee, but land trusts are now being formed to preserve farm and wilderness land. The entire Nashville Basin is considered at risk agriculturally from the housing expansion. Williamson County Real Estate Preserves Cool Springs HouseThe original two log rooms of the Cool Springs House were built in the 1830s. After undergoing major renovations and additions over the years, the log house's restoration work was begun after 1974. In 1993, the City of Brentwood rescued the house from impending development and moved it to Crockett Park. Future generations will now be able to enjoy it and the events that are held there.
