Find My Dream HomeWritten by Gregg Ruais Before the Internet became such an invaluable tool for potential real estate buyers, people relied on either newspaper ads or real estate publications to find available properties. In order to find beach front property, people either had to contact real estate agents or travel to beach towns in order to pick up those free home listings given away at supermarkets. Today, online MLS listings make it very easy to search for beach front homes. Online MLS Listings Locate Your Dream HomeThe premier websites allow people to conduct their own online searches, whereas some real estate agent websites make people fill out forms and wait for an agent to contact them. These agents don't want people to use their website to find a home and then ask another agent to show it to them. Another reason they may do this is to steer people towards more expensive homes. They don't want folks to know about the best deals, because the agents make smaller commissions off them. While their concerns are understandable, this is a dishonest practice. Many potential buyers leave those sites for more user-friendly websites anyhow. Why wait for an agent to contact you if you can start your search on another website? The online MLS listings actually save real estate agents a lot of work. People specify exactly what they want, and the MLS search engine filters out all homes that do not meet potential buyers' needs. After people find what they want, they can contact the real estate agent sponsoring the website and tell him or her exactly which homes they want to see. This prevents unnecessary trips to houses that people definitely will not buy.
