Padre Island fishing is famous for two reasons: The residents enjoy great weather all year, and the Gulf of Mexico has an abundance of large, tasty fish. The average daily high on Padre Island during every month except December and January is above 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Even during the two coldest months, people enjoy mid-60s weather during the daytime.

Padre Island: A Fisherman's Paradise

Most people consider this to be perfect weather for fishing. A windbreaker and light pants will suffice for most winter days on Padre Island. The summertime weather is hot, but not unbearable. Proximity to the water keeps the climate moderate compared to inland Texas and Arizona. Padre Island is famous for its winds, so people never suffer from stagnant heat. The breeze makes even the warmest temperatures bearable. As long as fishermen bring water on their voyages, they will be just fine.

The Gulf of Mexico waters are rich with marine life, and as a result, Coastal Texas and New Orleans are famous for seafood cuisine. Padre Island fishermen catch trout, bass, and redfish on a daily basis. Redfish are unique to the Gulf of Mexico. The taste of a redfish can best be described as a cross between cod and halibut.

Padre Island is the perfect place for fishing expeditions. Whether you're an expert fisherman or have no experience whatsoever, you can find a fishing expedition that's appropriate for your skill level. The Padre Island boat captains, like most people who live on resort islands, are very amiable. They have no problem teaching beginners how to fish.
