Greenwood Virginia real estate is nearly heavenly. The idyllic rural setting in Albemarle County possesses some of the best that this country has to offer. It is rich with history, warm with community, and vital with the astounding natural beauty of the region.

The Greenwood area was one of the first permanently settled areas in Albemarle County. For centuries, the area was primarily used for tobacco and wheat farming. Transportation routes throught the area were an impetus to growth, and many stores and taverns were founded in the early 19th century which are historic landmarks today.

Greenwood Virginia Real Estate at Its Best

Greenwood Virginia real estate is almost inseparable from Mirador Farm. In 1835, James M. Bowen, a farmer and merchant, built a small brick house he called Mirador. Tobacco and railroad magnate Chiswell Dabney Langhorne purchased Mirador in 1893 as a summer home. Over then ensuing years, surrounding land was purchased and the house was expanded to the mansion and estate covering the 189 acres which are currently a historical landmark--one which happens to be for sale for 14.5 million dollars!

There are, of course, a number of more modest residential options in Greenwood Virginia real estate. Small horse farms, private homes, and small business opportunities abound. The Internet will offer you more information about all of these possibilities.
