Internet Pen Pals

Finding Internet pen pals are a wonderful option for people either new to the online dating scene or who just want to connect with someone easily and safely. Whether you contact one through a mutual friend or sign up with an online matchmaking site, exchanging emails with other people can be rewarding. You will always appreciate a new email in your inbox and can look forward to learning about other people, cultures, and regions of the world.

If you are computer savvy and can type relatively fast, it is easy to keep up with an online friend with a few emails a week or a couple trips to chat online for an hour or two. While it may not be as good as communicating in person, some relationships with Internet pen pals can lead to deep friendships and romances. However, there are several safety tips when dealing with chatting online, even if you think you are about to find romance.

Safety Rules When Talking to Internet Pen Pals

Like the safety procedures commonly heard in most dating advice, a good plan is to only be known on the Internet by either your screen name or your first name. You may give out your general location, but never your personal or work addresses, phone numbers, or financial information. If you feel that your pen pal is pushing the issue to meet you, gain personal information about you, or is making lewd or sexually suggestive comments that you do not feel comfortable with, think about changing your email, asking the online company for a new nickname, and start anew.

The above information must be strictly enforced if your teenager or young child is corresponding with someone online. Unless you have met the pen pal in person or know the school that he or she is attending, you truly have no real concept of who is behind the other keyboard. Talk to your child or young adult about the dangers of the Internet and explain why many online dating sites are meant for members aged 18 and over.
