Social Networking

All social networking sites are created with one main goal in mind: to connect friends of friends in order that they too can become friends. Virtually hundreds of people with similar values, likes, and dislikes can get to know each other through one "hub" online. They can chat via email with each other, create online chat rooms for friendly group discussions, and even arrange parties and get-togethers out in the "real world."

Social networking is a relatively old concept, one which fired up many church gatherings, social dances, and the like. However, on the Internet there is a unique balance between being friendly and being able to maintain privacy. Online networking members can choose to withhold personal information in order to protect themselves from scamming "friends of friends" who may choose to take some sort of advantage.

Other Forms of Social Networking

Of course, the most popular of social online developments are those that deal with online dating. Singles can sign up with a member ID nickname and communicate with other interested singles, just like the friend-based sites. However, all the members know the final intent is to build up enough online chemistry in order for a date and possible romance to bloom.

In addition to romance and friend-based sites, there are other types of social networks currently used on the Internet. Many businesspeople find professional networking to be a great benefit to their business practices. Advice, partnerships, and contacts have been discovered and created through these types of websites, advancing businesses forward and creating new realms of entrepreneurship.
