Dove Cake Toppers

Dove cake toppers are great for true romantics. There is something so gentle, peaceful and pretty about dove cake toppers. The sweet doves are a metaphorical representation of the companionship and love that the bride and groom share.

It often seems like animal wedding cake toppers are able to capture the sweetness of a couple better than human figurines ever could. Dove, dolphin, songbird and swan cake toppers are perennial favorites for adorning wedding cakes. Human figures often come across as stiff, while dancing butterflies or leaping dolphins always come across as romantic and free.

Dove Cake Toppers and Beautiful Bases

The doves are only a small part of dove cake toppers. Although the eye goes to them first, it's really the surrounding elements of the topper that make it a success or not. Make sure every element of the topper is lovely and well-made, from the base all the way up to the birds.

Look for balanced details, like roses, ivy, ferns, pearls, ribbons and so on. Cake toppers need to be fairly large and ornate or they will be absolutely lost on top of that large, tiered cake. Think of a cake topper the same way you might think of the bride's veil or hat. A woman's everyday hairdo cannot compete with the grandeur of her wedding dress, no matter how pretty it is. She needs to add something extra to her hair, like a veil or picture hat, to balance out the size and splendor of her gown. The same holds true for a cake topper: it has to be big and splendid in order to match the size of a large, tiered cake.
