Sermons on Holy Spirit address one of the most complex yet fundamental aspects of Christian faith. Baptisms occurs in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; but while the Father and Son each have an entire book of the Bible written about them, the Holy Spirit is more abstract and causes more confusion to many people seeking to understand God. Then, when people find out that God is the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, but each of those if God in his entirety, they often get even more confused, and sermons on Holy Spirit may be essential in their quest to reconcile the difficult questions.

Scriptures Potentially Included in Sermons on Holy Spirit

Perhaps the first context in which to be introduced to the Holy Spirit is that of Christ's birth. According to the Christian faith, Christ is the son of God by Mary, who was a virgin when she became pregnant. Matthew 1:20 states, " ... for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit."

While many people who have problems with organized Christian religion cite precisely this scripture as a source of the credulity, for believers it is a cornerstone of faith. But this alone does not capture the identity or meaning of the Holy Spirit. The Bible also alludes to the Holy Spirit speaking through many mortal men, as if temporarily filling their mind and giving them knowledge of God or God's will that enabled them to lead their fellow man or carry out a holy task.

Even Christ himself was supposedly filled an occasion with the Holy Spirit. In Luke 4:1, for example, the Bible describes how Jesus was led into the desert by the Holy Spirit, which directed him by filling his mind and soul. Sermons on Holy Spirit may refer to any of the Biblical passages which refer to the Holy Spirit, or discuss in more general terms the nature of God and what that means to the average person attempting to maintain faith.
