By using certain internet services, employers can access background checks instantly. These background checks are usually used to screen applicants for open positions of employment. Background checks can reveal personal and technical information about any individual. Using online services can help to make the process faster and more convenient for employers.

Characteristics of Instant Online Background Checks

Instant background checks may include less detailed information than regular background checks. Both types use public records to access their information. Most background checks will reveal the personal characteristics, mode of living, general reputation, and character of individual applicants. Some background checks will also offer credit standing and credit worthiness information as well. Sometimes, credit information is omitted for instant background checks since that information can take more time to acquire.

Instant background checks will help employers to verify the identities and previous experiences of applicants. They will immediately show whether or not applicants have been telling the truth on their applications. Background checks may also offer access to criminal records if desired. Some professions especially require trusted employees, including businesses that require government security clearances. Many of these types of professions will make background checks mandatory for all applicants.

Only certain types of information can be revealed in background checks. This information may include social security numbers, credit payment records, driving records, criminal histories, address information, and general reputation characteristics. Instant background checks will not reveal e-mail addresses, non-published phone numbers, cell phone numbers, medical records, or school records because these items are not available in public records.
