Online Job ApplicationsWritten by James Lyons Online job applications are saving companies a good bit of time and money. It's a way for employers to complete a necessary part of the process before a candidate comes in to interview. A number of online job sites even offer links to their clients' websites so applicants can apply via their job board. As a former HR professional, I understand the value of the hiring process. It is designed to protect both the employer and potential employee. As far as I know, a company cannot deny someone the privilege of filling out an application. That is discrimination and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) would certainly be notified if such as thing happened. Online job applications give hiring managers a chance to screen applicants before they come in the door. Online Job Applications Save TimeBoth the employer and the candidate save time with online job applications. When a candidate fills out an application via the Internet, he or she typically has access to all the information he or she will need to complete the application. This is often not the case when candidates fill out applications while waiting to be interviewed. Things are invariably left out making the application an incomplete document. Employers, on the other hand, can save time and money filing away applications. Online applications are much easier to file away. They can be stored electronically in a confidential drive only accessible by those with clearance. In addition, if a hiring manager needs access to an old application, it's much simpler to retrieve one from an electronic file than it is from a big file cabinet.
