Background checks can be performed in any state, as long as they are used for employment purposes. California is the only state that differs from traditional background checking techniques. Background checks are most commonly used to help employers to make hiring decisions. They can also be used on current employees for purposes such as reassignment.

Benefits of Using Online Background Checks

Background checks can be very helpful for many different situations in business. They can also be used by employers in many different professions. When employers use background checks to screen applicants, they can find out whether or not applicants have been truthful on their applications. Many employers will choose online screening companies to obtain background checks because they are quick and convenient. Some online companies may even provide employers with instant results.

There are a few different types of screening methods that companies can use online. Background checks provide the most extensive amounts of information about individuals. They can even reveal character traits and general reputation conceptions. If employers only need basic identity information, they can choose to use identity checks instead. Some employers feel that criminal checks are the most important of all screening possibilities. Criminal checks and identity checks can be obtained much more easily and quickly than background checks.

California employers abide by different rules when obtaining background checks. In California, background checks are technically called "investigative consumer reports." Like all other background checks, California background checks provide information about character qualities, personal characteristics, and general reputations. However, California background checks do not provide information about credit worthiness. Credit worthiness and standings are standard parts of background checks in all other states.
